The quality of sleep of SK Dynamo České Budejovice players
KALOUSEK, Marek
The main topic of this bachelor thesis was Sleepquality in players of SK Dynamo České Budějovice. The aim of this thesis was to map the quality of sleep in players and also their subjective opinion about their sleep. The secondary aim was to find out which circadian preferences prevail. Two questionnaires were used, namely the Pittsburgh SleepQuality Index (Buysse, 1989) and the Morning and Evening Type Questionnaire (Horne & Östberg, 1976) . The theoretical part of the thesis is focused on the description of sleep, sleep stages: falling asleep, waking up, sleep quality, sleep hygiene, sleep disorders and also on the club SK Dynamo České Budějovice itself and on circadian rhythms and chronotypes in sport. The respondents were professional football players of SK Dynamo České Budějovice. The Pittsburgh SleepQuality Index and the Morning and Evening Types Questionnaire were distributed and completed in person at the SK Dynamo České Budějovice buildings in České Budějovice. The results show that the players have good sleep quality and none of them have major sleep problems and do not need to take any sleep medication. The second questionnaire showed that the players tend to be of an undifferentiated type, i.e. that neither the morning nor the evening type predominates in the team of SK Dynamo České Budějovice.
Sleeping issues in the senior age
KREJCÁRKOVÁ, Jana
The bachelor thesis deals with the issue of sleeping in senior age. Objectives: To map what non-pharmacological interventions are performed by nurses in nursing care for seniors over 65 years in the field of sleeping. Then, to find out what activities are performed by people over the age of 65 in the field of sleep hygiene. And at last, to find out what problems occur in people over the age of 65 in the field of sleeping. Methodology and research set: Based on the objectives, research questions were created. What non-pharmacological interventions are performed by nurses as part of the provided care for people over 65 in the field of sleep? What activities do people over 65 perform in the field of sleep hygiene? What problems occur in people over 65 in the field of sleep? For the research survey, we have chosen a qualitative research strategy, where the method of questioning was used. The data collection technique was based on semi-structured interviews, which were conducted with seniors over 65 at their chosen location, in hospital and retirement homes. The research was also conducted with nurses in the aftercare department and nurses who worked in a retirement home. Two research sets were used for the research survey - "nurses" and "seniors". The "nurses" research group consisted of a total of 6 nurses. Deliberate selection of nurses was used, where the basic criterion was the total practice length of at least ten years. The research group "seniors" consisted of a total of 9 seniors. The basic criterion for the selection of seniors was the full preservation of cognitive functions. The obtained data were processed by open coding - pencil and paper method. Results: Based on the analysis of the obtained data, we created categories and subcategories. In the research group "nurses", we set 4 categories and 10 subcategories and in the research group "seniors", we set 7 categories and 13 subcategories. The results of the research survey have shown that nurses have extensive experience with the issue of sleeping in seniors. Most of them solve this problem by activating the senior during the day, medication according to the doctor's prescription or trying to satisfy their sleep habits. We have found that most seniors try to maintain sleep hygiene, but often their health does not allow it. Many problems are solved by pharmacotherapy in many cases. Recommendations for practice: We recommend including the issue of sleep hygiene in the care of the elderly in the education of nurses. We also recommend using the cooperation of the nurse with the senior's family in the field of sleep hygiene.

Ročková, Šárka ; Vomáčková, Helena (advisor) ; Opatrná Novotná, Irena (referee)
Title: Monitoring the effect of short-term application of selected sleep hygiene rules on postural stability Aims: The aim of this work was to monitor the influence of short-term application of selected sleep hygiene rules on postural stability using a Computerized Dynamic Posturography NeuroCom Smart EquiTest machine in healthy young individuals. Methods: This work is characterized as an experimental pilot study. The research set consists of 20 individuals (n=20). The set was then divided into an experimental group (n1=10) and a control group (n2=10). The probands were approached based on previously defined criteria (healthy young adults, higher education and university students between 20 and 30 years of age, the average age in the experimental group (n1=10) was 24,74  2,56 years, the average age in the control group (n2=10) was 25,39  2,97 years,). The method of proband choice was non-probabilistic selection the snowball method. The measurements were performed at the Laboratory of Applied Kinesiology of the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport, Charles University. A Computerized Dynamic Posturography NeuroCom Smart EquiTest machine was used to assess and evaluate the postural stability. The testing protocol included the following tests: Sensory Organisation Test, Motor Control Test, Limits...
Survey of sleep hygiene for students of primary, secondary schools and working
Žáková, Veronika ; Vančata, Václav (advisor) ; Ehler, Edvard (referee)
The theoretical part of the diploma thesis deals with the effects of sleep on human health. Lack of sleep has demonstrable effects on a person's physical and mental health. People are succumbing to strong influences of present day society, which degrade their quality of sleep. These influences do not only effect adults, but children and adolescents as well. One can improve sleep quality by following sleep hygiene rules. Nowadays these rules are often violated. The main problem is ignorance. The aim of the practical part of this diploma thesis was to compare satisfaction with quality of sleep between groups of students in elementary schools, students of secondary schools, and adult working people. It was also investigated whether respondents in schools were familiar with sleep hygiene and whether they followed it. The results of the questionnaire surveys found that the group least satisfied with sleep quality was the group with working adults. More than half of the respondents in schools were unaware of sleep hygiene. It was confirmed that more than two thirds of respondents do not follow sleep hygiene rules. In the conclusion, the author has included material on sleep problems for grade eight students of elementary schools. It could be used as a draft chaper for future school textbooks, because...
The need to sleep with nurses
Janečková, Pavlína ; Marsová, Jana (advisor) ; Vyskočilová, Jana (referee)
Thesis deals with the need for sleep among nurses. It consists of two parts: theoretical and research. In the theoretical part I concentrate on physiology, classification and definition needs to sleep alone hierarchy of needs and the importance of sleep. I also deal with effects of sleep on bodily functions, factors affecting sleep, sleep duration among different age groups and a separate chapter with an overview of sleep disorders. On chapter fault I focused a little more detail because of the connection with the empirical part where I evaluated the most frequent disorder occurring in nurses in practice, the recommended solution physician or sleep duration required for sufficient rest. One chapter consists of recommendations in the form of sleep hygiene, which can lead to improved sleep habits. The empirical part consists of a quantitative research study conducted using pre-printed anonymous questionnaires. My research group consisted of single-shift nurses and multi-shift orthopedic, internal, surgical and pediatric ward of the hospital in Jablonec nad Nisou. Of the 120 questionnaires distributed, was eventually used to my job 104. Implementation of the survey took place from February 2015. The aim of this survey was to map quantitative frequently reported disorders and consequences associated...
Exercise regime and cirkadian typology of urban younger school-aged children in the city of Pilsen.
HRABOVSKÁ, Aneta
The aim of this bachelor thesis is to analyse physical activities and circadian rhythms of children from primary schools in Pilsen. The theoretical part of this work deals with definition of basic terms like characteristics of primary school children, their day regimen, lifestyle and a significance of physical activities in this age category. In the research part of this thesis I use ?The questionnaire of life rhythms and sleeping regime of children of age 9 ? 15.? (Krejčí, Harada, 2010) and ?The timeline of the day? (Bártová, Muţík, 2010), which captures the process, the content and the rate of physical activities during a weekday and one weekend day. The advantage of questionnaire method is a possibility of gaining a high amount of data, which give us enough information about circadian rhythms' hygiene, sleeping regime, nutrition, physical activities, etc. My research assemblage consists of materials about 50 children (25 girls, 25 boys) of age 9 - 11 from a primary school in Pilsen. All of them are healthy children with no physical disabilities. The results of this work should lead to an increase in experts' attention as well as in parents' and public attention. Right eating habits and enough of physical activities are being neglected during contemporary post-modern fast-moving times and experts rather focus on consequences of the unhealthy lifestyle. At the end of my thesis I will evaluate the structure of everyday physical activities of city children from the primary school using the acquired information. Based on the ascertained results I can deduce a general recommendation for the pedagogical practice.
